Seminar of Accidental Wisdom (SAW) is an interdisciplinary series of 11 lectures by curators, artists, and theoreticians who will enter a dialogue with viewers about the theoretical interpretation of contemporary audiovisual forms, photography, and exhibition theory. SAW is a joint project of the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, Kunsthalle Bratislava, and lítost gallery Prague. The Seminar of Accidental Wisdom has been kindly supported by the Ministry of Culture Czech Republic Arts Grant.
Kunsthalle Bratislava (KHB) is a non-collecting gallery headquartered in the House of Art in the center of Bratislava. In the scope of its exhibition program, it specializes in solo and group presentations of some local but mainly foreign artists, who represent the most progressive trends in contemporary art and augur its course. Aside from an attempt to actively participate in and influence social discourse, in some cases actively deconstructing it, the ambition of KHB is to expertly contextualize contemporary artistic tendencies. The criteria of the exhibition selection are the diversity of the exhibition plan, artistic quality, and the criticality of the presented works. KHB gives preference to projects of diverse media, which actively react to the given architecture of their exhibition spaces or otherwise systematically and conceptually work with it.
The Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) is one of the three faculties of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (AMU) and the fifth oldest film school in Europe. FAMU's study programmes combine a practical and theoretical approach to provide students with a comprehensive set of skills and knowledge needed to work in all professions of film, television, photography and new media. The study focuses on craft and technical skills, artistic expression as a sign of style, individual reflection on aesthetic issues, and reflection on work and creative methods, both one's own and others, from the diverse field of audiovisual.
lítost is a contemporary art gallery and curatorial institute based in Prague’s Žižkov district.
